Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has done it again. For the second year running, DBKL was awarded the FLORIA Putrajaya Garden Cup Trophy together with a cash prize worth RM10,000 at the recently concluded Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival 2016. The trophy, testimonial certificate and cash prize were given away by the President of Putrajaya Corporation, Datuk Seri Hj Hasim Hj Ismail during the closing ceremony for Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016 at Anjung Floria, Precinct 4, Putrajaya.
DBKL also took top honors with the Outstanding Garden Award for the category of Special Gardens. The win meant that DBKL’s landscape architect, Muhammad Hafiz Zainal took top honors as the inaugural Best Landscape Architect. Muhammad Hafiz received a trophy and testimonial certificate for his design of the DBKL Garden that proved the most popular attraction amongst visitors to Royal FLORIA Putrajaya this year.
The entry from Johor won the Gold Award that comes with a trophy, testimonial certificate and cash prize for RM5,000 under the new category Royal FLORIA Gardens of Malaysia 2016; while the President’s Garden Award went to Penang.
The Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016 saw participants vying for 28 awards under 4 categories covering Gardens, Flowers, Design and Water Color Painting.
During the ceremony, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya was presented with a certificate for the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for the tallest glutinous rice exhibit. The 7.15 meter glutinous rice exhibit was erected jointly by Putrajaya Floria Sdn Bhd (PFSB) and the Putrajaya Community that operate the Kampung Warisan (Heritage Village).
In his closing address, the President of Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) lauded, “the continued commitment shown by Putrajaya Corporation as the organizers with the support and cooperation from the Ministry of Federal Territories and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, together with Tourism Malaysia’s water floats parade dubbed ‘Magic of the Night’, has enabled Royal FLORIA 2016 to record 736,450 visitors as of Friday night, June 3, 2016.”
Royal FLORIA 2016, stretched over 9 straight days of colorful festivities under the theme of ‘Magical World of FLORIA’; boosted by abundant, colorful and resplendently designed chrysanthemums, the festival flower; have gained a firm foothold in the hearts and minds of visitors. The Chrysanthemum Garden and Candy Courtyard proved to be the most popular attractions captivating visitors with their festive and colorful shapes and designs.
With virtually hundreds of thousands of flowering plants arranged in myriad display concepts and designs, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival 2016 featured well structured and exciting exposition concepts and format covering 83 flower and garden landscaping exhibition lots over a wide range of categories and designs featuring chrysanthemums as the main theme.
The festival this year also saw the participation of 1,200 students, teachers and lecturers from primary and secondary schools and local universities who demonstrated a marked improvement in the design concept, work quality and quality of planted materials that were put into competition during Royal FLORIA 2016.
The organization of Royal FLORIA 2016 was also well positioned to provide an excellent and unique opportunity for flower and gardens landscaping entrepreneurs and suppliers to show off and introduce their products and services. The festival enabled the opening of numerous business opportunities and collaborations amongst various parties from the landscaping, horticulture and gardening industry.
Royal FLORIA 2016 has allowed local flower and garden designers, arrangers and entrepreneurs to tap additional knowledge and expertise while learning new techniques in flower and landscape arrangements and designs as well as horticulture from internationally acclaimed landscape architects and designers.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya is a flower and garden festival organized by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) since 2007. It has become an annual attraction at Putrajaya since 2009 following tremendous reception from visitors. The festival showcases commercial products from the horticulture and landscaping industry, garden shows, garden designers’ demonstrations and local and foreign floral displays amidst sprawling enchanting garden settings.
