Yet again, Anjung FLORIA is captivatingly transformed into an extensive floral carpeting over 9 days of Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016. The largest flower and garden festival in Southeast Asia was officially launched by Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah at Precinct 4 Putrajaya in a ceremony reminiscent of its Royal legacy. The Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016 Flower and Garden Festival will be opened from May 27 to June 4 2016.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016, organized by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) with the continued support of the Minstry of Federal Territories, Ministry of Tourism and Culture as well as Tourism Malaysia, promises to be bigger and more exciting, and is set to receive a rousing reception from visitors looking forward to a unique and amazing experience at the Magical Garden simulation and its accompanying components.
Themed ‘The Magical World of Floria’, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016 is set to serve up a new dimension in experience, mesmerizing visitors on an enchanted journey that transcends the imagination when, using the latest visual technology from Europe and amidst mystical backdrops, the curtains are drawn to showcase an amazing experience through the Magical Garden and Mystical Forest, Chrysanthemum Garden, Mermaid’s World, Candy Courtyard and Tree of Life. These innovative technologies will excite all the five senses of sight, sound, taste, smell, touch and enliven emotions during life imitating odysseys via the hi-tech magic of “magic-mirroring” and 3D holographic displays.
The 9th edition of the region’s largest flower and garden festival in 2016 aptly features the entrancing Chrysanthemum aka “Garden Mums” as the theme flower which will be generously displayed amidst specially designed garden settings to indulge the visual palates of visitors. The event this year will also feature new display components to draw a larger crowd of visitors and foreign tourists. These include the ‘Magic of Bonsai & Suiseki’, Terrarium ‘Tropical Magic in the Glass’ and the Musical Garden showcases.
This year festival features 21 international participants comprising flower designers and landscape architects from 11 countries; China, Germany, Macau, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand who will display their expertise with their unique creations and designs. Ecuador and Korea are also expected to display flowers that are unique attractions in their respective home countries with their participation at the Embassy Row.
In addition to featuring creative indoor designs, visitors will be fascinated by impressive indoor and outdoor garden designs and enjoy the opportunity to absorb the creativity and expertise of local and international landscape designers as displayed in the outdoor garden designs from various government agencies, corporate bodies, private sector, associations, universities, secondary and primary schools.
Speaking at the official launch of Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016, the Minster of Federal Territories, YB Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said, “This year Royal FLORIA Putrajaya has gained recognition by the International Floral Design Education Foundation, Taiwan, that will be accompanied with an Award of Excellence worth RM3,000.00 to be presented to winning participant at the Floral Pavilion.
Henceforth, Royal FLORIA expects to improve its professionalism and credibility by hosting the Royal FLORIA International Dialogue (RFID), positioned to act as a catalyst for an industry that caters to professional players in landscaping, flowers and floral design, horticulture, floriculture and other related fields. Accordingly, RFID holds the potential to be the platform for the national flower and floral industry, becoming the center for cooperative linkages and networking, imports and exports, and research and development activities in all related industries.”
As in previous FLORIAs, this edition of the festival will witness several awards up for grab. The awards include the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya International Cup for winning designs among international participants at the Floral Pavillion, the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Garden Cup for the overall winner of the outdoor display in the Garden Design competition, a RM12,000.00 prize for the winning design among 5 local participants in the Desinger Gardens Competition, and a new category, Gardens of Malaysia that offers a cash award of RM5,000.00 to the winner.
In becoming yet an annual tradition, the festival this year will witness a large convergence to discover young talents from universities and secondary and primary schools who are keen to display their skill and creativity in designing and constructing their own gardens hands-on under the supervision of their instructors and teachers. The festival will feature teams from 19 primary schools, 19 secondary schools and 15 universities competing in the School and Universities Competition, while 5 universities will participate in the Wall Art Competition.
Other attractions in the pipeline at FLORIA Diraja Putrajaya 2016 are Chrysanthemum Garden, Royal Garden, Designer Garden, Tea Party Garden, Cat Pavillion, Floral Pavilion as well as Plants Bazaar and Horticulture Market which will be selling gardening needs and accessories and plants which include ornamental plants, herbs and spices, fruiting plants, potted plants, garden furniture, garden tools, biotechnology products and landscaping services.
FLORIA Flavours is again expected be a major crowd attraction as a center offering a wide variety of food selections under one roof. While FLORIA Flavors will accommodate 41 stalls located in a more congenial location, the attraction is also expected to feature 22 food trucks serving up a wide variety of scrumptious food and flavorfull drinks to visitors at the Food Truck Valley.
FLORIA Arts & Crafts, another well patronized component of Royal FLORIA, is also slotted to attract visitors looking to feast their senses on cultural shows, handicrafts demonstration and while there, bring back unique and quality handicrafts souvenirs. At FLORIA Arts and Crafts, there are expected to features 93 arts and handicraft entrepreneurs offering products inspired from plant origins, landscaping and the natural environment.
The FLORIA Diraja Putrajaya 2016 will also feature more than 300 daily activities throughout its nine-day festival. These activities include floral design demonstrations, gardening workshops, entertainment and variety shows, photography competition, watercoloring competition and arts and crafts exhibition.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya is a flower and garden festival organized by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) since 2007. It has become an annual attraction at Putrajaya since 2009 following tremendous reception from visitors. The festival showcases commercial products from the horticulture and landscaping industry, garden shows, garden designers’ demonstrations and local and foreign floral displays amidst sprawling enchanting garden settings.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya will be opened to the public from May 27 to June 4 2016 from 9.00 am to 10.30pm (Monday to Thursday) and from 9.00am to 12.00am (Friday to Sunday). The 9th Edition of the Royal FLORIA Flower and Garden Festival is organized by Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) with the support of the Ministry of Federal Territories, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and Tourism Malaysia. The festival is managed by PPj’s wholly owned subsidiary, Putrajaya Floria Sdn Bhd (PFSB).
